What Time Does Wendy's Stop Serving Breakfast?
Verified 2026-09-19 from 4,416 official Wendy's store pages · Method
Wendy's stops serving breakfast at 10:30 AM local time at 97% of US restaurants, seven days a week. At 10:30 the grill switches from breakfast to lunch and breakfast sandwiches are gone until the next morning. The exceptions are specific and small: 208 stores (about 1 in 20) run until 11:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays, 36 stores — almost all airports and military bases — stop at 10:00 AM, and a few dozen stores in Ohio, Florida and Montana stop at 10:15 or 10:25. If you order in the Wendy's app, treat 10:15 as your deadline.

Is the 10:30 cutoff firm, or is there a grace period?
It is firm, and there is no official grace period. Wendy's menu boards and registers change over at 10:30; the practical question is what happens to people already in line. Employees describe two policies, and which one your store follows depends on the manager: (1) the last car at the speaker or the last person at the counter before 10:30 gets breakfast, everyone behind them gets lunch; or (2) a hard switch at 10:30 regardless of the line — a rule some franchisees insist on because leftover breakfast product is thrown out after its hold time.
What is consistent across stores:
- Breakfast prep winds down from about 10:00. Crews stop cooking new batches of sausage, bacon and biscuits 15–30 minutes before the switch so nothing is wasted. Between 10:15 and 10:30 you may find some items sold out (typically croissants or French Toast Sticks first) while others remain.
- The grill is the constraint, not the clock. Breakfast and lunch share one flat-top. It runs in "breakfast mode" (eggs, sausage) until 10:30, then is scraped, re-set and kept in "lunch mode" (fresh beef) for the rest of the day. Wendy's crews will not cook sausage and beef side by side, which is why there is no overlap window in either direction.
- After 10:30, "whatever is left" is the most you'll get. If a store still has a wrapped sandwich under the heat lamp at 10:32, many managers will sell it. Nobody will make a new one.
The safe rule: be at the speaker or counter by 10:20. On Saturday and Sunday mornings the drive-thru queue between 9:45 and 10:25 is the week's longest; arriving in the lot at 10:25 with eight cars ahead of you usually means lunch.
What happens at 10:29 vs 10:31 — minute by minute
| Time | What the store is doing | What you can order |
|---|---|---|
| 10:00 | Last full batches of breakfast proteins go on. Lunch prep begins in the back (fries, chili, nuggets fryers primed). | Full breakfast menu; some LTO items may already be out |
| 10:10–10:15 | App and delivery platforms typically stop accepting new breakfast orders (see below). Crew counts remaining breakfast product. | In-store/drive-thru breakfast; app may already show lunch or block breakfast |
| 10:20 | Recommended last arrival. Front counter and drive-thru still take breakfast orders. | Breakfast, possibly with substitutions |
| 10:29 | Last breakfast order taken (policy 1) or line cut (policy 2). | Breakfast if you're already ordering |
| 10:30 | Menu boards flip. Grill changeover starts (takes ~5–10 minutes). | Lunch menu; leftover breakfast items only |
| 10:31–10:45 | Burgers come off the grill for the first time; Frosty machine typically finishes its morning cycle. | Full lunch menu, occasionally a leftover biscuit |
The app stops earlier than the store: ~10:15
In the Wendy's app, breakfast typically disappears about 15 minutes before the store's cutoff, and any breakfast order must be picked up — not just placed — by 10:30. Wendy's doesn't publish the app cutoff, but the mechanism is well understood from staff: the store needs time to make the order before the grill changes over, and a delivery order placed at 10:29 could arrive at a kitchen that has already switched to lunch. Three practical consequences:
- Drive-thru pickup orders are not cooked until you reach the speaker. If you place a breakfast order at 10:20 and arrive at 10:35, the kitchen sees it for the first time after breakfast has ended and cannot make it. Choose carryout rather than drive-thru pickup for late breakfast orders — carryout tickets go straight to the kitchen.
- Delivery breakfast has a narrower window than in-store: starts at 8:00 AM (Wendy's official figure), last orders about 10:15, and the order must be handed to the courier before 10:30.
- If the app shows only lunch at 10:12, that store has already switched. If it shows only breakfast at 10:40, your phone's time zone is probably wrong, or the app is cached — set the phone's time to automatic and restart the app.

Does Wendy's stop serving breakfast at a different time on weekends?
At 95% of stores, no — breakfast ends at 10:30 on Saturday and Sunday exactly as on weekdays. The claim that "Wendy's serves breakfast until 11 on weekends," repeated on many hours websites, is true for 208 specific stores and false for the other 4,000. Those 208 are clustered: 80 in Florida, 37 in Colorado (39% of Colorado's breakfast stores), 30 in Illinois, 28 in Southern California (Anaheim, Fontana, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Lancaster, Palmdale), 17 in Massachusetts, 8 in Ohio and 4 in Rhode Island. Five stores — four in Los Angeles County (Bell, Gardena, Rancho Palos Verdes, South Gate) and one in Winter Park, Florida — serve breakfast until 11:00 every day of the week.
What does change at weekends is the start, not the end: 18% of stores open breakfast later on Sunday (usually 8:00 AM), so the window shrinks from the front. Weekend detail by state: Wendy's weekend breakfast hours.
Which Wendy's stop serving breakfast before 10:30?
Seventy-four US stores end breakfast before 10:30, and nearly all of them are in three groups.
Airports (10:00 AM). Phoenix Sky Harbor, Sacramento (Terminals A and B), Houston Bush Intercontinental (Terminals A, C, E and the Airport Blvd unit), Dallas/Fort Worth, Salt Lake City (Concourse B), Seattle-Tacoma, Miami International and Minneapolis-St. Paul (Concourse F). Airport units open early — 4:00 to 6:00 — and close breakfast early to match the concession contract and the mid-morning departure lull.
Military installations (10:00 AM). The five Clarksville, TN and two Oak Grove, KY stores serving Fort Campbell; the two Camp Lejeune, NC stores; NAS Whidbey Island (Oak Harbor, WA) and the Bremerton, WA shipyard store. Base dining follows the installation's schedule.
One-operator clusters (10:15 / 10:25 AM). Twenty-one stores around Cleveland (Cleveland, Parma, Euclid, Elyria, Lorain, Westlake, Solon, Shaker Heights and others) end at 10:25 — a five-minute buffer that one franchisee builds in so the grill is in lunch mode by 10:30 sharp. Seven stores in Springfield, Sidney, Piqua and Anna, Ohio end at 10:15, as do Butte and Missoula, Montana. Four Treasure Coast, Florida stores (Vero Beach ×2, Fort Pierce, Indian Harbour Beach) end at 10:25.
If your store is in one of these groups, subtract accordingly; for everyone else, 10:30 is the number.
What can you still get after 10:30?
Only drinks carry over. Hot coffee, iced coffee, cold brew and the Frosty Cream Cold Brew (chocolate, vanilla, caramel) are sold all day. Everything cooked — sandwiches, biscuits, croissants, burritos, English muffins, French Toast Sticks, Seasoned Potatoes, Cinnabon Pull-Apart — ends with the daypart. Employees report that leftover Seasoned Potatoes are occasionally sold for a few minutes past the switch, but it isn't policy. The lunch side of the same question — burgers before 10:30 — is answered in Can you get lunch during breakfast hours?, and the all-day question in Does Wendy's serve breakfast all day?
Why 10:30, and why it doesn't move
Wendy's chose 10:30 in March 2020 to match McDonald's weekday cutoff and Chick-fil-A's, and it has never announced a change. The reasons it holds even at 24-hour stores: one grill, a lunch rush that starts building at 11:00, and food-safety hold times that make a long breakfast tail expensive. Of the 156 24-hour Wendy's that serve breakfast, 153 still stop at 10:30 — a 24-hour store simply starts breakfast earlier (5:00 AM at most of them), it does not end later. When Wendy's allowed franchisees to opt out of breakfast in February 2026, operators responded by dropping the daypart entirely and opening at 10:00 — nobody chose a shorter or later breakfast, which tells you how fixed 10:30 is inside the system.
Is my store's cutoff different? Two ways to check
- Official store page. Search "Wendy's [street] breakfast menu" or open locations.wendys.com → your store → Breakfast. The hours block lists breakfast start and end per day. Ignore the line "Breakfast ends at 6:30 AM" if you see it before opening — that's the locator printing the start time with the wrong label; the end is in the table.
- The app, before 10:00. Select your store; the breakfast menu shows while breakfast is active and vanishes at the store's cutoff (minus the app buffer).
Stores that stopped breakfast entirely — the ones that now open at 10:00 AM — are tracked in Locations that stopped serving breakfast.
Frequently asked questions
What time does Wendy's breakfast end on Sunday?
10:30 AM at 95% of stores — identical to weekdays. About 208 stores, mostly in Florida, Colorado, Illinois, Southern California and Massachusetts, extend Sunday breakfast to 11:00 AM. Sunday start times are later at 18% of stores, so the window is shorter, but the end rarely moves.
Can I order breakfast at 10:29?
At most stores, yes, if you are at the speaker or counter at 10:29 — but expect limited items, because crews stop cooking new breakfast product around 10:15. Arriving in the drive-thru lane at 10:29 behind other cars is not the same as ordering at 10:29; many stores cut the line at the switch.
What time does Wendy's stop serving breakfast on the app?
Around 10:15 AM at most stores, 15 minutes before the in-store cutoff, and the order must be picked up by 10:30. Drive-thru pickup orders aren't cooked until you arrive, so choose carryout for late breakfast orders.
Does any Wendy's serve breakfast past 11?
No. The latest breakfast end time on any official Wendy's US store page is 11:00 AM (208 stores on weekends, 5 stores all week). No Wendy's serves breakfast after 11:00.
What time does Wendy's stop serving breakfast in Canada?
10:30 AM at 94% of Canadian stores; 14 stores end at 11:00, 7 at 10:00. Details: Wendy's breakfast hours in Canada.

When the store opens — 6:30 AM at 43% of breakfast stores, 6:00 at 17%, 7:00 at 17%, 8:00 at 10%. The full picture, including which stores don't serve breakfast at all, is on the Wendy's breakfast hours homepage.
