Which Wendy's Stopped Serving Breakfast? State and City Tracker
Census of all 5,635 US store pages on locations.wendys.com · Verified 2026-09-19 · Method
1,512 US Wendy's restaurants (26.8%) no longer serve breakfast, and the drop-outs are concentrated in a handful of states and metros rather than spread evenly. North Carolina, New York, Texas and northern New England lost the most; Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, California and Kentucky lost almost none. This page lists every state's current serving share and start times, the metros where most stores quit, and a lookup for the towns people ask about most. The data is re-pulled from Wendy's own store pages each month; the last change log is at the bottom.
Breakfast by state: share still serving, and typical hours
Breakfast ends at 10:30 AM in every state; what varies is how many stores serve it and when they open. "Modal start" is the most common weekday opening/breakfast start among stores that serve breakfast; the Sunday column shows where weekends start later.

New York: city serves, upstate mostly doesn't
Every borough except one store each in Manhattan and Brooklyn serves breakfast; upstate New York has largely dropped it. Manhattan's nine breakfast stores open 6:30 weekdays and 7:00–8:00 weekends (Fulton St, 14th St, 7th Ave, 8th Ave, Third Ave). The Bronx's nine all serve, five of them from 5:00 AM on weekends. Brooklyn 12 of 13, Staten Island 7 of 7, Jamaica 4 of 4, LaGuardia Terminal B from 4:30 AM. Upstate: Rochester 2 of 11, Buffalo 1 of 6, Syracuse 0 of 5, Albany 0 of 2, Schenectady 0 of 4. Statewide only 96 of 243 stores (40%) serve. Breakfast ends 10:30 at all 96 — New York has no 11:00 stores.

Not seeing your town? Any Wendy's that opens between 4:00 and 8:00 AM serves breakfast from opening to 10:30; any store that opens at 9:00 or 10:00 does not. That single rule holds at 99.6% of US stores.
Why these places and not others
Franchise ownership explains most of the map. Wendy's made breakfast optional on February 13, 2026; each operator then decided for its whole territory. Meritage Hospitality Group (314 stores across AR, CT, FL, GA, IN, MA, MI, MO, MS, NC, OH, OK, TN, TX, VA) cut or altered breakfast at 120–164 restaurants and filed Chapter 11 on September 17, 2026 — its footprint lines up with the drops in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Georgia, Oklahoma and Michigan's suburbs. The Texas and Carolina drop-outs are several regional operators acting in February–March 2026. Upstate New York's Capital Region went first, in October 2025, when 13 stores switched to a 9:00 AM lunch-only opening. Where a single operator with strong mornings owns the market — Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Detroit — breakfast survived at every store. Corporate-owned units and 24-hour highway stores kept it everywhere.
